Building

for early childhood language & literacy

The Sound Case™ is an early childhood phonics-based literacy curriculum
based on the science of reading
and themed around classic children's books.

Recommended for children ages 4-7,
The Sound Case quickly builds
foundational literacy sounds and skills for  all  learners,
including those with who are dyslexic.

Teach the sound of every letter

The Sound Case lets kids discover that letters make sounds.

That letters "talk".

They learn phonological awareness to prepare for reading.

Based on the science of how children learn to read

Uses Science of Reading multisensory methods for highly effective teaching of reading skills.

with dyslexia, how to read, write, spell, and comprehend.

It works.

“...I had a student – he struggled.
He was young and he had a lot of other things that were hindering his learning.

We were blending sounds, and I was calling on students to blend sounds together, and he raised his hand, and I thought, well, we'll let him try...

And he blended them.

I was dumbfounded, because he was that student that struggled on just recalling the sounds, and so for him to be able to put it together – to make a word – was unbelievable, and it was like, ‘wow, okay, it's starting to make sense for him.’

He could blend the sounds that he knew, and he could say the word.

He could figure it out if he didn't.

It was exciting, and he'd get excited, and I'd get excited, because for a student that struggled as much as he did, it was, that ‘aha’, this strategy really works.

Not just for the high or the mediums, but it's also working for those struggling students.

This is doing what it needs to do."

I am a recent graduate of the Paraeducator Program at WSU Tech. Last semester, I had the opportunity to work closely with four kindergarten students using the Sound Case, and I really enjoyed every minute of it. Over the course of the term, I saw a huge improvement in their understanding of letter sounds, and watched their confidence grow.

One of my favorite parts of the Sound Case was interacting with the students as I read books that matched the letter sounds I was teaching. The letter-to-sound deck cards were also a big hit. It was great to see how quickly the kids picked up the sounds using these resources.

The students especially looked forward to using the handwriting boards and were excited they were able to practice what they’d learned in a hands-on way.

I’m proud to say that they are now finishing the school year knowing their letter sounds and feeling confident enough to show others in their class how much they’ve learned.

This was a valuable and enjoyable experience that made a real difference, and I’m so glad I got to be part of their learning journey.
